Telnyx Launches 'LiveKit on Telnyx' — A Cost Revolution for Voice AI Infrastructure

APRIL 11, 2026

US telecom infrastructure company Telnyx officially launched 'LiveKit on Telnyx' on April 6. The platform runs LiveKit agents on Telnyx-owned infrastructure in a fully hosted model, aiming to dramatically reduce the cost and latency of Voice AI agent deployment.

Background: The Voice AI Infrastructure Bottleneck

As voice AI agents transition from prototype to production, infrastructure cost and latency have emerged as critical bottlenecks. Traditionally, STT and TTS models required external cloud API calls, with each network hop adding cumulative latency. Achieving enterprise-grade telephony quality and regulatory compliance meant stitching together multiple vendors.

Key Details: What LiveKit on Telnyx Offers

Telnyx CEO David Casem stated: "Voice AI is moving from prototype to production. That transition demands infrastructure built for enterprise reliability and compliance" (GlobeNewswire, Apr 6, 2026).

  1. 50% cost reduction — 50% lower costs on equivalent STT/TTS models compared to LiveKit Cloud. Session fees waived during beta (standard LiveKit Cloud: $0.01/min per active session).
  2. Sub-200ms round-trip latency — STT/TTS models run on Telnyx-owned GPU clusters colocated with telephony Points of Presence. Audio never leaves the Telnyx network, eliminating variable latency from external API routing.
  3. Full-stack infrastructure ownership — Telnyx owns the carrier network, GPU clusters, and telephony stack. This includes telecom licenses in 30+ countries, 18 global POPs, and A-level STIR/SHAKEN authentication.
  4. Enterprise compliance — HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2, and GDPR compliant. Built-in carrier-grade SIP with AMR-WB codec support, call recording, call transfers, and custom trunk configurations.

Notably, existing LiveKit code requires zero modifications. Developers simply package their agent with a Dockerfile and deploy via API.

Market Implications for Korea

For Korean enterprises looking to deploy production Voice AI agents, this announcement carries three implications. First, lower infrastructure costs reduce the economic barrier from PoC to live service. Second, depending on Telnyx's Asia POP expansion, sub-200ms latency could become achievable for the Korean market. Third, domestic telcos and cloud providers are likely to respond with similar 'integrated Voice AI infrastructure' strategies.

However, Korea-specific requirements — SIP integration with domestic carriers like KT and SKT, Korean-language STT/TTS model optimization, and PIPA (Personal Information Protection Act) compliance — remain areas that global platforms alone cannot fully address.

What's Next

LiveKit on Telnyx is currently available in beta with waived session fees. Telnyx is directly competing with AWS and Google Cloud voice infrastructure services, differentiating through vertical integration of carrier network, GPU infrastructure, and telephony.

📌
Vertical integration of Voice AI infrastructure is accelerating. Telnyx's LiveKit on Telnyx promises 50% cost savings and sub-200ms latency, resetting both the economics and quality bar for Voice AI agent deployment. In the Korean market, the key question is who will bridge global infrastructure with local telecom requirements first.
